About Us

Gulf English Nursery The Nursery consists of two classrooms and has a maximum of fifteen children per session. All the classes are newly resourced with imported European toys, games and learning resources. All classes are on the ground floor and all have emergency exits to the secure outdoor area. The Nursery has a library and if the children bring in a blue GEN book bag (available for sale at the uniform shop) they can borrow a library book for the weekend. The children that attend the Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum 2012 for England and Wales as do the Pre School and Reception classes at The Gulf English School. The curriculum is based on high quality planned play experiences to support all areas of children’s learning and development. We have a strong focus on Communication, Personal and social development as well as Physical development. A copy of the curriculum is available in the Nursery Foyer. The Learning objectives for each term are displayed in the Nursery Foyer along with photos and captions showing the children’s learning. Parents will receive a written report once per term summarizing the child’s progress. All our assessments are based on careful observations by the Teachers, we never test children. Parents will also be invited to Stay and Play Days when you can see your child learning at Nursery and take part in activities with their child. Each class is led by a qualified native English speaking Teacher who are fully qualified in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The Teachers have a lot of experience teaching young children in Nursery Schools. The Teachers are supported by experienced Teaching Assistants who also have been working in the nursery for many years.

There is a Nursery nurse who is fully trained and attends to the health and well-being of all the children in Nursery. The nurse will contact parents directly if there are any health problems concerning the children. Each week the children receive a music lesson from our specialist music teacher.  The children learn songs and rhymes, about rhythm and tempo and how to use a wide range of percussion instruments. The children also receive and Arabic lesson once a week by the Arabic Teacher. The children learn and practice vocabulary appropriate to their age and level of Arabic.
