About Us

Vision International School (VIS) is a proprietary school owned by the renowned Almuftah Group, and a Member of the Council for International Schools (CIS).   The school is located in a modern, spacious and beautiful educational facility located in Al Wakra – a close suburb of Doha, Qatar, on the Arabian Gulf.

Our campus opened in September 2014, with 225 students in grades Pre-K through Grade 8, and an eventual maximum capacity of 1200 students in Pre-K through Grade 12.  Classes are co-ed in Pre-K through Kindergarten 2 (KG2).  Classes from Grades 1 and up are single-gender.

The school offers an American international curriculum along with Arabic language, Qatari History, and Islamic Studies.

The school is a modern, purpose-built campus including:

  • An early childhood section for Pre-K and Kindergarten
  • Elementary school for Grades 1-5; sections for boys and sections for girls
  • Middle/High school for Grades 6-11; sections for boys and sections for girls
  • A full-size gymnasium, swimming pool, two cafeterias, well-equipped libraries, art, science, and music labs, and exciting play spaces in both shaded and fully air-conditioned settings
  • A robust After School Activities program for all grades from KG1 and up

Mission

Vision International School is a gender-separate American-curriculum school committed to preparing students for the 21st century by providing an academic environment in which students learn how to collaboratively solve problems and learn independently.  In addition, students learn to express themselves through the fine arts, athletics, and a wide range of activities and experiences designed to enrich their lives. We also seek to instill a sense of ethics, care and compassion for others.

Vision

VIS aims to be a community that shapes local leaders and global learners by developing leadership skills, increasing global awareness, and by celebrating the culture and traditions of Qatar.

At Vision International School we aim at shaping:

Creative Individuals who:

  • use imagination and critical thinking to address essential questions

  • demonstrate intellectual curiosity both in and outside of school

  • develop self-esteem and self-expression through interaction with arts, sports, and the environment

Local Leaders who:

  • take initiative and demonstrate personal integrity

  • interact positively with others within the immediate and greater community

  • deliver on the promise to develop Vision Pride in and out of the classroom

Global Learners who:

  • exhibit a broader view of the world by understanding and accepting diversity

  • are engaged and participating in collaborative activities with organizations from the wider community

  • model compassion and empathy for others

21st Century Learners who:

  • use information resources to extend their knowledge

  • communicate, collaborate, think critically and create using technology locally and globally

  • display digital citizenship, awareness, and skills

Curriculum:

Provides a wide range of experiences and programs that actively engage students and promote their growth intellectually, physically, aesthetically and socially while developing a depth of character that exhibits empathy, a sense of service, moral courage, and humility.

Sparks a passion in students to learn and to become intensely immersed in education as its own reward.  This is accomplished by the provision of student-centered learning experiences that are real and relevant to the student, and under the guidance of caring, professional teachers that recognize each child as a unique individual.

Instills global citizenship by celebrating the culture and traditions of Qatar and other countries of the world.  By experiencing the world through the eyes of others, and recognizing our similarities and differences, students become more grounded in their own culture, values, and traditions while gaining a broader understanding and appreciation of human diversity.

Recognizes the unique learning needs of each student and provides an appropriately rigorous program for all. Differentiated learning establishes expectations that challenge all students to grow beyond their boundaries under the guidance of a teaching faculty that deeply understands the unique educational needs and capabilities of every child.

Uses technology appropriately as a natural extension to enhance learning opportunities.  Students are exposed to and engaged in the use of technology on a regular basis as a means to expand their classroom experience and provide them new opportunities for self-expression and discovery.

Admission:

We appreciate your interest in Vision International School, and understand that selecting a school is an important decision for you and your child. Please take some time to view our website and learn about the opportunities available to our students. You will find all the information you need for applying to VIS on our website, here.  Please note that we can not proceed with an application until all required documents have been submitted.

VIS is dedicated to providing excellent learning opportunities in the classrooms, in the lab, the gymnasium, the pool, and various trips around Qatar.  At VIS, we embrace the local culture and design educational experiences to embrace a global perspective.

At VIS, we follow an American grading sequence aligned with the sequence prescribed by Qatar’s Ministry of Education.  In order to be eligible for admission, Pre-KG children must be 3 years old on or before September 30, and so on through the grades. Please refer to the Admissions Policy for additional information.  VIS seeks to enroll children who are deemed capable of achieving success given the rigorous college preparatory nature of the school program. All children enrolling at Vision International School will be expected to demonstrate reasonable competency in the English language, with the exception of students entering Pre-KG, KG1 & KG2.

Appointments and tours:

For prospective families are ongoing. Admissions testing may be scheduled as soon as a completed application form is received, along with all required documents and a registration fee. Once a grade level is full, new applications received for that grade level would be placed on the waiting list until such time a space becomes available.

We look forward to hearing from you, and are excited about the possibility of your family joining our school community.
